Which class actually suits you
Travelling on price
Coach or Standard, booked as early as possible. On US long-distance routes coach is genuinely comfortable for a single overnight.
Travelling to work
Business or First on corridor services. The table, the quiet and the power turn three dead hours into three productive ones.
Travelling overnight
A Roomette for two is frequently cheaper than a hotel night plus two coach seats once meals are counted.
Travelling as a family
A Family Room on a Superliner route. Full car width, windows on both sides, and children who can walk around.
Travelling with mobility needs
The Accessible Bedroom, one per sleeping car, on the lower level with step-free platform access and a roll-in shower.
Travelling for the journey
A Bedroom on the California Zephyr or Coast Starlight, on the correct side of the train. This is the trip people talk about for years.
